52 Weeks Of Photo Challenges

A theme based photo blog

28. Love Is…

This morning I was told about a place called Emerson Point Preserve near Palmetto, Florida. It’s about a 30 minute drive from my house. I had already made a plan to be near there and it was a beautiful day so I went to check it out. I did a google earth search before hand and did a little poking around. There was a photo posting of a tree called “The Hands of Time.” I thought it was really interesting so while I was there I went on a hunt.  It is much different now then it was when the photo online was taken. Originally it was a palm tree trunk wrapped in the arms of a mangrove tree. Now there is just a piece of the palm tree left. To me it looked like the mangrove tree was hugging the palm tree. As I looked closer I noticed that people have left behind little carvings as a declaration of their love. Hence the posting with the theme, “Love Is.” I’m looking forward to going back sometime soon!  If your interested in reading more about Emerson Point Preserve visit their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Emerson.Point.Preserve

  1. Cool. As much as I go there to shoot birds, I never knew this was there and my buddy volunteers there and hasn’t told me.

    • All the way to the parking lot on the end, follow the path to the right almost to the very end! Don’t feel bad George, I asked a man who was picnicking with his wife along the path if they knew about it. He had never heard of it either. I found it about 100 feet past them!

  2. Loved the capture of the theme. Nice work.
