52. Yellow

Well it doesn’t get more yellow than this!  I have learned all about the minions thanks to my grandson Greyson. If it has a minion on it he wants it.

I was on a Walmart run to buy mailing labels and took a side trip down the toy isle. Because that is what I do now because of this ridiculous blog… I think I may have let out an audible giggle when I saw this 8 pack of tiny little minions. Let me introduce you to Carl, Kevin, Phil, Jerry, Stuart, Tom, Dave and Tim.

So here you go, more tiny toys that the grandkids think will belong to them in August. HA!

6. By Candle Light

I have been wanting to experiment with light painting  since I watched my first Ben Willmore workshop on Creative Live. I have been scouring the racks at Lowes, Home Depot, The Dollar Tree, Staples etc for quite awhile. I’ve collected a lot of CANDLE power and finally started to play around with many of his technics. I have little lights that you can have attached to your keychain that are only a few candles bright all the way up to one I am hoping can light a car with a few swipes out doors.  I have a long chain with a jump rope handle on the end that I’ve made small orbs with indoors. I’m still waiting on just the right no mosquito night to try it out doors!

Below is my best indoor experiment to date. When I showed the picture to my husband I told him with a lot of excitement that I sat up this shot and then photographed it in a pitch black room. I told him the only light was a flash light I used to “paint” the photograph. After seeing the look on his face I reminded myself that I really need to stop telling him these things. The only painting he wants to hear about is when I tell him I’ve repainted the bathroom! HA

44. Red, White and Blue

I’m sure I am not the only one of us that was saving up the “Red, White and Blue” theme for the 4th of July! It was an obvious choice to me. Perhaps not the most creative. But it was fun! I had a hard time picking just one though. I really thought it would be all about the desserts. But then Mary Nell showed up to the festivities with these awesome painted toes so I had to include them too!

5. Winning

Last weekend I was one of the photographers hired to photograph runners in the Color Me Rad 5K in Tampa. It was sooooo much fun! I took photos of the runners both before and after they ran the race. For anyone not familiar with Color Me Rad, they color bomb the runners before and during the race. The runners spend a lot of time bombing each other as well. By the time they finish they look like brightly colored rainbows. The energy was amazing!  I manned the BLUE booth! I thought I’d share a few of my favorites. The first photo is of the first girl to cross the finish line…. “The Winner!”  ImageImageImageImageImageImage

47. A Pair Of…

During a recent visit to the Cortez fishing docks I took a photo of “A Pair Of” white pelicans!

A cousin to the brown pelican, the stunning white pelican, is one of the largest birds in all of North America with an impressive 108-inch wing span. They are found throughout the state, but on Florida’s Gulf Coast, between Sarasota and Naples, you’ll find large communities of these wintering visitors. More timid in nature than brown pelicans, they find safer, more secluded environments such as estuaries, lakes, mangrove islands or within geographically protected areas, rather than open water.

42. Walking Downtown

Today I was finally able to get downtown to the Sarasota Chalk Festival. I think this is probably my favorite annual event in Sarasota. Last year I was able to go every morning and take photos of the artists daily progress. I wasn’t able to do that this year but I did finally make it today before the forecasted rain arrives tomorrow. I just shake my head every year when I look at all the beautiful work and think it will be washed away forever with the first rain….

So, here are a few of my favorite chalk drawing that I admired today during my walk downtown!

21. What a Choice!

This is the choice I am facing in the next couple weeks!

My husband and I are building a new home and so far have agreed on almost everything. When it comes to the wall colors that is where everything comes to a screeching halt! I have a manilla envelope packed with paint samples from several paint stores…. choice, choice oh what a choice!Image
